The goal
Worldopoly is Monopoly on a real map of Manhattan. Every building is a property you can own. Buy
properties, collect rent, and outplay other players to climb the leaderboard by net worth. Net worth
is your cash, plus the list price of everything you own, plus any money held in auction bids.
You start with $1,000 and 3 dice rolls.
Rolling and moving
- Press Roll dice in the top bar. You roll two dice (2–12) and move that many blocks along the
streets.
- At each step you choose a direction in the panel at the bottom left. Hover over a choice to see
an arrow over the building it leads to.
- Your move ends when the blocks run out, or at a dead end. Wherever you stop is where you
land.
- If you leave or reload mid-move, the top button says Continue move so you can pick up where you
left off.
Landing and buying
- Unowned property: you're offered it at its list price. Buy it or skip. With an auction starter,
you can instead put it up for a global auction (see Auctions).
- Another player's property: nobody pays. The bank pays the owner the property's rent and pays
you half of it as a visit reward.
- Your own property: nothing happens.
- Click any building to see its price, rent and owner. The Google Maps and Street View
links show the real building.
Rent and payday
- Every 10 minutes it's payday, on one clock for everyone (see "Payday in" in the top bar).
Owners collect every property's rent from the bank. "Rent/payday" shows your total.
- Every payday also gives everyone 3 free rolls, up to 10 stored. Rolls you win, buy or earn from
ads can go above 10.
- Away rule: if you haven't taken a game action for 30 minutes, your payday rent is saved instead
of paid. The saved amount never exceeds the total value of the properties you own. It's paid out the next
time you roll, buy or take any other action. Rent from players landing on your properties is always paid
right away.
Spinner spots
- The ? markers are spinner spots. They're scattered across the map and move every 20 minutes
(see "Spinner Spots move in").
- End a move on one and you get to spin the wheel. You must spin before rolling again. Each spot pays you
once until the spots move.
- Prizes:
- $50 to $500 cash
- 2, 3 or 5 extra rolls
- an auction starter
- a trap
- rarely, a steal
Bigger slices are more likely.
Auctions
- Auction starter: when you land on an unowned property, choose Start auction. Any player
anywhere can bid, starting at a quarter of the list price.
- Bidding: use the Live auctions list in the sidebar. Each bid must beat the current one by
at least $10.
- Your money is held: your bid is taken from your cash while you're winning. If someone outbids
you, you get it back straight away.
- Every auction runs for 1 hour, and the highest bid then wins the property.
Selling your properties
Open My Assets and click a property, or click it on the map. Then choose:
- Sell to the bank for half its list price, instantly.
- Auction it for 1 hour with a floor price you set. It stays yours until the auction ends. If
nobody bids, you keep it. You can't bid on your own auction.
Traps
- Click any space and choose Set a trap here. Traps are hidden: only you see them (red X).
- The next other player to end a move there pays you 10% of their cash, and the trap is used up.
- You can have up to 5 traps set, one per space.
Steals
- Click another player's property and choose Steal this property. It becomes yours for free, and
the owner is told who took it.
- You can't steal a property that's up for auction, or one that changed hands in the last hour. That
stops properties being snatched straight back.
Getting more rolls
- 3 free rolls every payday.
- The daily check-in: once a day, claim a bonus of 5–10 rolls or $100–300 cash.
- The Tycoon Pass: 20 rolls every day you play.
- Spinner prizes.
- Watch an ad (bottom left of the map): a 30-second ad gives 10 rolls, up to 5 times a day.
- The Store.
Store
- Starter Pack ($2.99, once per player): $1,500 cash, 40 rolls, a trap and an auction starter.
- Bundles:
- Tycoon ($4.99): $3,000, 60 rolls and 2 traps.
- Mogul ($9.99): $8,000, 150 rolls, 3 traps, 2 auction starters and a steal.
- Tycoon Pass ($4.99): 20 bonus rolls every day you play, for 30 days. The rolls arrive with your
first action of the day. Buying again while it's active adds 30 more days. It never renews or charges you
automatically.
- Skins change your icon on the map, for everyone to see. All skins are free right now: claim them in
the Store (they're yours to keep), then switch between them in My Assets.
- You can also buy game cash, dice rolls, traps, auction starters and steals on their own.
- Payments are handled securely by Stripe. Your purchase appears within a few seconds of paying.
- All purchases are final, except where the law says otherwise.
The screen
- Top bar: your cash, net worth, rolls, payday countdown, rent per payday, items and spinner-spot
countdown.
- My Assets: your properties and items. Click a property to fly to it.
- Map colours:
- green = yours
- red = another player's
- grey = unowned
- gold = unowned and up for auction
Other players appear as walking figures.
- Find me (red button, bottom right) centres the map on you. Zoom with the +/− buttons, the scroll
wheel or a pinch.
- Sidebar: the selected property, live auctions and the leaderboard. The full leaderboard has
seasonal boards too.
- Vote for the next city to be added on the home page.
Tips
- Rent is paid by the bank every payday, so every property you own keeps earning while you play.
- Spend your rolls: free rolls stop piling up at 10.
- Traps work best on busy spots near spinner spots.
- A fresh purchase is safe from steals for an hour. Older properties aren't.
